Bethesda Game Studios’ open-world space RPG Starfield is coming to PlayStation 5, the developer announced. Starfield will launch on PS5 on April 7, 2026. The PS5 version of the game “includes every major update released to date. Besides launching on PS5, Starfield is also getting a big content update called “Free Lanes” and the “Terran Armada DLC” on April 7 only.
Just like on other platforms, Starfield on PS5 will launch in Standard and Deluxe editions (both physical and digital). Starfield Standard Edition on PS5 will launch with the base game updates with the Free Lanes content, while Starfield Premium Edition on PS5 includes both the Free Lanes update and the Terran Armada and Shattered Space DLCs. The Starfield Deluxe Edition on PS5 also comes with 1000 Creation Credits (upon launch), the Constellation Skin Pack, the Starfield Digital Artbook and Digital Soundtrack.
That means Starfield players on PS5 will get the latest version of Bethesda’s open-world space RPG, with all content updates at launch. They will also be able to access Creations content.
The Free Lanes update is Starfield's biggest update yet and adds the ability to "freely fly between planets in a star system." The new Cruise Mode allows you to take some time out from pilot duty and invest it in decorating your spaceship, using the workbenches and gabbing with companions and crewmates. The ship's autopilot will automatically slow you down when you reach the destination.
New players on PS5 will “benefit from meaningful quality-of-life improvements like clearer, more functional surface maps and the REV-8 land vehicle that make planetary exploration smoother, as well as substantial feature additions introduced through free updates, like Creations,” Bethesda said in a website post.
According to the US-based developer, the adaptive triggers on PS5’s DualSense controller will be “unique to different types of weapons, including your starship weapons; light bar indications of your health and your ship’s health; touchpad shortcuts for switching POVs and pulling up your map and hand scanner; and more.”
