During the recent State of Play Japan broadcast, Sony announced a 27-inch PlayStation gaming monitor, marking a new first for Sony. It is designed specifically for PlayStation 5 players who prefer desktop gaming setups and comes with an optional built-in charger for DualSense and DualSense Edge controllers. It will initially launch in the US and Japan, and surprisingly, comes with no 4K support.
Sony’s PlayStation 27-inch gaming monitor: Specifications, features
The new gaming monitor from Sony comes with a QHD IPS panel with a 2560 x 1440 pixels (2K) resolution. This display is also equipped with HDR support and Auto HDR Tone Mapping, which automatically adjusts HDR settings when connected to PS5 or PS5 Pro consoles without requiring manual configuration. Moreover, it has Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) support with up to 120Hz refresh rate on PS5, while delivering up to 240Hz on compatible PC and Mac computers.
The most distinct feature, however, is the option of installing a DualSense charging hook in front of the monitor stand that lets users charge their PS5 DualSense or DualSense Edge controller. It also supports VESA mounting and features two HDMI 2.1 ports, one DisplayPort 1.4 port, two USB-A ports and one USB-C port. The monitor also comes with built-in stereo speakers and a 3.5mm audio jack.
The PlayStation 27-inch gaming monitor will be available in the US and Japan in 2026. However, Sony has still not announced its price and launch date. However, we can expect availability in more countries by next year.
