Taking on the 5G smartphone wave, Samsung has launched its first 5G phone that costs less than Rs 10,000. The handset in question is Galaxy F06 5G and it supports 12 5G bands which makes it compatible with a wide range of 5G networks, including the one offered by Reliance Jio and Airtel. 

Talking about the features, the Galaxy F06 5G comes with One UI 7 based on Android 15 OS which makes it the most affordable phone to offer Android 15. Other features include Know Security, 50MP dual rear camera setup and 25W fast charging, something that no other phone offers in the segment.

Galaxy F06 5G features a 6.7-inch HD+ display with 800 nits brightness. It is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor and comes in two configurations: 6GB RAM with 128GB storage and 8GB RAM with 128GB storage, expandable via microSD. 

The rear camera setup includes a 50MP wide-angle lens with an f/1.8 aperture and a 2MP depth sensor, while the front camera is 8MP. 

The device is equipped with a 5000mAh battery and supports 25W fast charging. Running on Android with One UI, it offers four generations of OS upgrades and four years of security updates. 

For connectivity, it supports 5G with 12 bands, Carrier Aggregation, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and USB-C. Security features include Samsung Knox Vault. Additional features include Voice Focus for improved call clarity and Quick Share for file sharing. The device has an 8mm thickness, weighs 191g, and is available in Bahama Blue and Lit Violet with a Ripple Glow finish.

We spoke to  Akshay S Rao, General Manager, MX Business, Samsung India on what made Samsung come up with a sub-10k 5G phone and why now. Rao highlighted that this is the right time for a 5G phone that’s more accessible to users and moreover. He also said that Samsung wanted to deliver a complete 5G experience in an entry-level phone without compromising on the essentials.
