Samsung is expected to debut its next-generation foldables in the coming months. This lineup is expected to include the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and the budget-friendly Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. The company also recently rolled out its Android 16-based One UI 8 beta programme for Galaxy S25 series smartphones, and has now confirmed that its upcoming Galaxy foldables will arrive with this new operating system.
Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy foldable smartphones confirmed to be powered by One UI 8
In a newsroom post this week, Samsung confirmed that its latest One UI 8 software interface, which is based on Android 16, will debut on its "newest foldables this summer.” These smartphones are most likely to be named the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, with the Galaxy Z FE also expected to join this lineup.
Samsung has also suggested that these foldable handsets will ship with Android 16, which is expected to arrive on Pixel smartphones next month, thanks to a "mutual partnership between Samsung and Google." The One UI 8 beta update has already been rolled out for Samsung Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra users in Germany, Korea, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Previous reports have indicated that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 could be the thinnest foldable phone ever, measuring just 3.9mm when unfolded and 8.9mm when folded. It is expected to come with a 4,400mAh battery and is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC with 12GB of RAM. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 could also be powered by the same Snapdragon 8 Elite chip or Samsung’s Exynos 2500 (depending on region). It is likely to house a 4,300mAh battery with 25W charging support.
