As pollution levels continue to hit alarming levels in Delhi NCR and other urban hubs, the need for effective air purification has become paramount. Once considered a vanity or a ‘luxury’ product, air purifiers have made their way into homes, offices. The deteriorating air quality, often laced with harmful particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10), allergens, and gases, have ensured that air purifiers are now a common sight. Philips has been making air purifiers for a while now and its latest offering is the Philips 3200 Air Purifier. A rather stylish looking device designed to combat indoor air pollution. We used it for a couple of weeks in NCR’s severe to very poor pollution levels and here’s what we think
Philips 3200 Air Purifier review: Design, build
At first glance, the Philips 3200 impresses with its minimalist and compact design. It fits in nicely in most living spaces, whether in a bedroom or a modest-sized living room. Despite its small footprint, the purifier houses powerful technology that promises a high Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) of 520 cubic meters per hour (cmh), making it suitable for medium to large rooms.
The build quality feels solid, as one would expect from Philips, with intuitive touch controls on the top panel that allow for easy operation.
The controls are intuitive, and the display provides clear information about the current air quality and operating mode.
There are soft LED indicators that adjust brightness based on ambient light — a nice touch for those using it in bedrooms.
Philips 3200 Air Purifier review: Performance
The Philips 3200 comes equipped with a 3-layer HEPA NanoProtect filter, which means it is capable of capturing 99.97% of harmful particles as small as 0.003 microns, including dust, pollen, pet dander, smoke, and even some bacteria and viruses.
What’s different about the air purifier is the use of SilentWings technology, which ensures quieter operation—up to 30% quieter than previous Philips models. Even at full power, the noise levels are low enough to make it bedroom-friendly, a feature that many users will appreciate. Whether you’re running it during the day or while sleeping, the 3200 maintains a calm, unobtrusive presence. There are some air purifiers — and including an old Philips 1215 which we have — that make a rather constant and loud whirring noise. The Philips 3200 doesn’t suffer from those issues.
The device’s CADR of 520 cmh is another standout feature, enabling it to cycle and clean air quickly. This makes it particularly effective in dealing with sudden spikes in pollution, such as those caused by construction dust or festival-season fireworks. In our time with the air purifier, it did a fine job of purification, even when pollution levels were really high.
By connecting to the Air+ app, users can monitor real-time air quality metrics, adjust settings remotely, and receive alerts about filter life and replacement. The app’s interface is user-friendly, with easy-to-understand data visualisations that demystify complex air quality parameters like PM2.5 levels.
You also get the option to turn the purifier on before arriving home or adjust settings from the comfort of their couch.
Maintenance is straightforward, with a filter replacement indicator ensuring know when it’s not being at its best. The HEPA NanoProtect filter is durable and long-lasting, though its longevity will depend on the air quality in your area and the frequency of use.
While it excels in many areas, it lacks features like a dedicated air ioniser or UV sterilisation, which some competitors in this price range offer. Additionally, the smart app connectivity, while useful, might not appeal to those who prefer simpler, offline functionality.
Priced at ₹22,995, the Philips 3200 positions itself as a mid-range air purifier with impressive features. Given its high CADR, advanced filtration system, quiet operation, and smart connectivity, the price feels justified for what you’re getting. It strikes a balance between affordability and performance, making it a compelling choice for households seeking an effective solution to indoor air pollution. The Philips 3200 Air Purifier is a well-rounded efficient device that will be a good addition to most urban households looking for an air purifier.
