Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on February 24 said that he is preparing to host the most technologically advanced Kumbh in Nashik in 2027. His comments come two days before Uttar Pradesh’s Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj concludes.

Speaking at the Nasscom Technology and Leadership Forum in 2025 in Mumbai, Fadnavis said, “I want to congratulate Chief Minister Yogi ji (Yogi Adityanath) and the way he has handled the entire Kumbh, where people more than the population of Europe came to one destination. It is amazing. And this time it was not only Maha Kumbh, it was a technology-enabled Kumbh.”

“In 2027, we will have Kumbh at Nashik. The Prayagraj Kumbh was organised in an area spreading across 15,000 hectares and the Nashik Kumbh area is about 250 hectares. I have the experience of organisation Kumbh in 2015, but I would say that this time it will be technologically the most advanced Kumbh,” he added.

Fadnavis shared that he will be creating an immersive experience for people attending Kumbh. There will be several technology-focused elements to keep the people engaged.

“Even those who cannot dip in the holy water will have the experience of bathing in it through technology,” he said.

Fadnavis also spoke of his plans of making Maharashtra reach $1 trillion economy status over the next 4-5 years. He added that it could even touch $1.5 trillion if planned properly.

“Niti Aayog and our experts have put in a paper where they think that Maharashtra can become a trillion-dollar economy in next 4-5 years, but if we work properly, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) itself can become a $1.5 trillion economy.

That’s what we are now leveraging that ability and capability to become $1.5 trillion economy,” Fadnavis said.
