Mivi Superpods Opera review

Mivi Superpods Opera is the company’s recently launched TWS earbuds which offer a wide range of features at an affordable price. The Opera are listed at Rs 1,799 on Mivi’s official website and for the asking price, the earbuds bring AI-powered ANC features, Hi-Res audio support, LDAC codec support and a Quad Mic setup.

That’s not it, the earbuds also come with Spatial Audio and 3D Soundstage for better listening experience. I have been using them for a while and here’s what I think about it.

Design
Well, Mivi has always been pretty creative when it comes to design. The Superpods Opera is one good option of that. The Opera earbuds case has a two-tone finish with a glossy finish at the top and a rugged finish at the bottom part of the case. In addition to these, the case has four LEDs at the front that indicate battery level and charging when plugged in.

The opening and closing mechanism is solid with solid closing feedback. Also, the earbuds' storage design is convenient and allows one to take them out and put them back in without any added effort. They are designed in a way to eliminate the effort of which earbud goes on which side and that’s something I really liked.

Talking about the earbuds, they also carry the same two-tone design language. The stem has a glossy finish while the top part that goes into the ear has a matte finish. The earbuds are comfortable and I faced no pain or discomfort during longer listening sessions.

Overall, the Superpods Opera has a good and comfortable design that keeps up with modern aesthetics while being functional.

Audio performance, calling and ANC
When it comes to audio quality, the Opera has a bass-heavy nature and that’s something most people will appreciate. What I noticed is that the sound signature is pretty wide and has a good sound stage. With the added support for LDAC and Hi-Res audio, I used Apple Music to stream songs and I could notice the quality improvements here.

The treble is reasonably good, it could have been better though. However, if you are a bass lover, then Opera earbuds are on point. The sound output is mostly warm and full of bass. Vocals are also well pronounced and I am glad that they don’t get overpowered by the heavy bass that the earbuds offer.

Apart from this, the one feature that I really appreciated is the multi-point connectivity. So, with the feature, I keep the earbuds connected to my phone and my laptop and use them to take calls, listen to music, and attend meetings without having to connect them manually to each device.

As I mentioned, the earbuds come with an AI-ANC feature and In my testing, that’s decent at its best. But you can’t expect any more at the price bracket. The passive noise cancellation works well and when paired with AI ANC, the noise cancellation is somewhat manageable. While it does completely sus the background, it does make a difference.

Call quality is also good enough. I used to take calls and meetings and so far no one complained about voice quality or too much background noise. I asked and most people said that the voice quality was good enough and they didn’t have a problem in understanding what I was saying.

Mivi Superpods Opera is compatible with the Mivi Audio app which allows users to manage several features, equalisers, adjust touch controls, enable kids mode, find the lost earbuds, and more.

There’s a dedicated Gaming mode too which can be turned on using the app and In my testing with Shadow Fighter and BGMI, the reduced latency works flawlessly.

Battery life
Mivi claims 60 hours of battery life including the case and I got around 50 hours at max volume and multi-point connection turned on. So, that’s something pretty good for most users.

Verdict
Under the Rs 2000 price bracket is already filled with a lot of options and that makes it pretty hard to bring up earbuds that stand apart in the crowd. With the oval-shaped design language and two-tone colour treatment, the Superpods Opera definitely an appealing option. But, that’s just one part of it. If you are a bass lover and want affordable earbuds, then it is also a very good option to go with. Another major advantage is the app support that offers controls and added features too. For the asking price of Rs 1,799, the Opera is a good choice to go with whether you are a music lover, watch movies or shows on the go or a gamer.
