Microsoft Teams is making its way into your car quite literally. Mercedes-Benz has announced a new partnership with Microsoft to bring popular business tools, including Teams, into its vehicles. The rollout will begin later this year with the all-new CLA model.
With this move, Mercedes-Benz wants to make it easier for people to stay productive even while driving. The latest version of the Meetings for Teams app will now be built directly into the car’s system, called MB.OS. For the first time, drivers will be able to join Teams video calls using the car’s built-in camera but with safety in mind. The camera will let other people in the meeting see you, but you won’t be able to see shared slides or screens while driving, so you can stay focused on the road. You can also turn the camera off any time you want.
There’s more. The Teams app inside the car now has a dashboard showing your upcoming meetings and quick access to frequent contacts. It even comes with a better chat feature and voice controls to make messaging easier and safer while driving.
Mercedes is also adding Microsoft Intune, a security tool that lets people log in with their work accounts, access business apps, and keep their personal and work data separate. This means employees can safely access work files and apps in their car just like they do on their phones or laptops.
And coming soon is Microsoft 365 Copilot, the AI tool that helps users summarise emails, manage tasks, and prepare for meetings. Using simple voice commands, drivers will be able to stay on top of work while keeping their hands on the wheel.
With these updates, Mercedes-Benz aims to turn the car into a mobile office, making life easier for professionals on the go.
