Microsoft has again delayed the rollout of the much-anticipated Recall feature for Copilot+ PCs. This is the third time that the company has delayed the rollout. The company has updated its “Recall Preview rollout” blog with an update mentioning that the rollout has now been pushed to December instead of October.
Recall rollout delayed for refinement
In the blog update, the company mentioned, “To ensure we deliver on these important updates, we’re taking additional time to refine the experience before previewing it with Windows Insiders.”
The company has already published details on how Recall ensures users privacy and data safety a couple of months back. As per the updated post, the company wants to ensure that Recall delivers the user experience the company intended it to deliver.
Recall controversy
Recall was initially planned to arrive for testing to Windows Insiders in June. It then ran into some controversies over privacy and security concerns. Also, initially Microsoft planned the Recall to be a default feature in Copilot+ PC and can’t be removed.
However, after the backlash, the company delayed the rollout to November and also published a detailed guide on how Recall ensures users privacy and security, especially when it comes to their data. Moreover, the company detailed the rollout to October and it has now again delayed it till December.
Microsoft also made Recall optional for users and added the option to disable it in case they don’t want to use the feature. Not only that, users will also have full control over the Recall’s ability to capture data and delete them. In fact, the Recall can also be completely uninstalled from the system.
