Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, the upcoming remake of 2004’s PS 2 game ‘Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater’, got a confirmed release date recently. The single-player tactical and survival stealth action game will launch on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam) on August 28, 2025, Konami announced. The stealth action Metal Gear Solid game also got a new trailer in Sony’s State of Play event.

As the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater retains the “original story and setting”.

What's new: Third-person view, fast change camo feature

While the story and the setting remain the same, Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater adds numerous features and items to the gameplay. For example, players can either choose an over-the-shoulder third-person viewpoint in New Style or a top-down viewpoint in Legacy Style. Konami has also added a quick-select menu so that players can change their camos easily.

Easter eggs and GA-KOs

Also, “nearly all the easter eggs from the original, like obscure mechanics and tricks, magazines, posters, and items like Calorie Mates are back in the remake. The hidden Kerotans are returning as well, but this time, they’ll be joined by GA-KOs hiding around various game areas for you to discover”, Noriaki Okamura, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Producer, Konami Digital Entertainment, said in a post on PlayStation Blog.

Snake vs Monkey game mode returns

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater features the return of the Snake vs Monkey special game mode with “newly enhanced graphics”. In this game mode, Naked Snake has to capture the mischievous Pipo Monkeys from the Ape Escape series.

What's new: PlayStation 5 Pro support and enhanced details

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater comes with support for PlayStation 5 Pro features. On PlayStation 5 Pro, “you can enjoy smoother, enhanced performance even with the graphics set to Quality Mode” and “with PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution), the game’s characteristic jungle environments and foliage are rendered in even more fine and exacting detail”, claims Konami.
