Meta and Oakley have introduced a new category of Performance AI glasses, blending performance and design with AI-powered features, specifically designed for athletes. It offers 3K video recording, open-ear speakers, and up to 8 hours of battery life.Meta has announced its new pair of smart glasses in collaboration with sports performance equipment manufacturer Oakley, dubbed Oakley Meta HSTN.  It is aimed at athletes and sports enthusiasts, and offers support for Meta AI, the company's AI assistant, which can respond to users’ queries through voice commands. Moreover, it records short video clips in 3K resolution and offers longer battery life than the company’s previous Ray-Ban Meta Glasses.

Meta Oakley smart glasses: Price, availability

The Limited-Edition Oakley Meta HSTN is priced at $499 (around Rs 43,200) and will be available to pre-order starting July 11. The rest of the collection will be introduced later this year, with prices starting at $399 (around Rs 34,600). Initially, the glasses will be sold in the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, France, Italy, Spain, Austria, Belgium, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, and Australia. However, Meta plans to make it available to Mexico, the UAE, and India by the end of the year.

The Oakley Meta HSTN glasses, like the Ray-Ban Meta glasses, come equipped with a 12MP camera, which has been upgraded to support video recording in up to 3K resolution, over the 1080p support on the Ray-Ban ones. Audio has been thoughtfully integrated, too, as it comes with open-ear speakers built into the frame, so wearers can enjoy music, podcasts, or calls without requiring any headphones.

These smart glasses also come with built-in Meta AI, providing real-time assistance during various activities such as posting videos on social media or checking the current weather conditions. The glasses are rated IPX4 for water resistance, meaning they can handle rain, sweat, or splashes during outdoor sports. The Oakley Meta HSTN offers up to eight hours of use on a full charge, while a quick 20-minute top-up can top up half of its battery. Meanwhile, with the charging case, the glasses are said to provide up to 48 hours of battery.
