Some leaked images of the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max are creating quite a buzz online and not just because they show a new design. What’s got everyone talking is the camera. Instead of the usual layout, Apple seems to be going for a horizontal camera bar across the back, which looks a lot like what Google Pixel phones have had for years.
Fans are saying Apple might be getting a little “Pixel envy.” And of course, Google noticed and had a little fun with it.
In a new ad from Google’s funny #BestPhonesForever series, Pixel and iPhone are best friends chatting on a podcast. The topic? All the rumors about the iPhone 17’s new look. When a headline pops up saying the new iPhone looks like a Pixel, the iPhone character laughs and says, “Can you imagine me doing the same thing you did first, years later?”
Pixel just smiles. The ad also reminds us that Google launched new features like Night Sight (for low-light photos), Magic Eraser (to remove unwanted stuff from pics), and home screen widgets years before Apple added similar tools. The ad ends with the two phones joking around, proving even rivals can be friends.
Meanwhile, Google is getting ready for its big event, Google I/O, happening May 20–21. That’s when we’ll probably see the new Pixel 10 and learn more about its powerful new chip, the Tensor G5 — which Google built from scratch.
So, is Apple really copying the Pixel? Maybe. But one thing’s for sure: tech rivalries have never been this entertaining.
