Infinix Note 50x 5G review: Powerful performance and functional AI on a budget
Infinix continues to refresh its Note lineup with value-packed smartphones, and the Note 50x is no different. I used the phone for some time and summed up my experience in 10 points, highlighting its performance, display, cameras, and AI features.
Processor and performance The Note 50x, according to the company, is the world’s first smartphone powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Ultimate chipset. Built on a 4nm process, the octa-core setup includes four high-performance Cortex-A78 cores clocked up to 2.5GHz. Paired with a Mali-G615 MC2 GPU, this setup handles multitasking and gaming smoothly. There’s no lag or stutter as such while jumping from one app to another. Gaming performance is also on-point here. titles like BGMI and CoD: Mobile can run smoothly, and the added Game mode makes things better.
2/10
Display The Note 50x 5G comes with a 6.67-inch HD+ IPS LCD with a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 672 nits. While the resolution is limited to 720x1600 pixels, it offers up to 240Hz touch sampling rate for responsive inputs. Features like LCD AOD and Wet/Greasy Touch support improve usability in varied conditions. Now, the resolution might not be as good as we expect from a phone in this segment, but it is surprisingly sharp and clear. The viewing angles are good too, and the overall brightness is not an issue here.
3/10
Camera At the rear, the Note 50x houses a 50MP main camera with an f/1.6 aperture, assisted by PDAF and a dual-LED flash. It supports 4K 30fps video recording, alongside slow-motion capture at 1080p 240fps. The front camera is an 8MP shooter with support for 2K video recording. Modes like Super Night, Dual Video, Sky Shop, and Vlog add AI-powered enhancements for content creation. In terms of quality, the primary shooter is good enough for most needs. The colours are fine in daylight conditions, but start losing details in challenging conditions. With the dedicated night mode, the quality improves to a good extent, though.
4/10
Battery and charging It is equipped with a 5500mAh semi-solid state battery that supports 45W fast charging via USB-C. Reverse charging (10W) is also supported, allowing it to power other devices. The combination of battery size and efficient chipset should deliver a full day’s use for most users.
Design and durability The Note 50x sports a gem-cut camera module with Active Halo Lighting, giving it a distinct look. The phone is MIL-STD-810H certified for military-grade durability and carries an IP64 rating, offering splash, dust, and limited water resistance. It weighs between 195.4g and 198.9g, depending on the colour variant. The phone looks pleasant and more premium than it costs. Plus, the camera layout looks beautiful and different from other offerings in this segment.
6/10
Memory and storage The device comes in two RAM variants—6GB and 8GB LPDDR4X, expandable virtually to 12GB and 16GB, respectively. Both configurations offer 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage, with microSD card support via the hybrid SIM tray. This setup is suitable for moderate storage needs and multitasking.
7/10
Software and AI features Running XOS 15 based on Android 15, the phone brings refreshed UI elements and new AI features branded as ‘Fun with Infinix AI ️’. The software includes AI call translation, smart scanner, and voice assistant features. The user interface offers a clean experience with customisable app icons and gesture controls. I used most of these features, and in my testing, most of them worked just fine. But do keep in mind that the phone processes everything over the cloud and requires internet connectivity all the time. But I am not complaining, considering the phone is offering features from the segment that’s way beyond its capabilities.
8/10
Connectivity solutions Connectivity options include 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and USB Type-C with OTG. Dual SIM support is available, with a flexible slot for either two SIMs or one SIM and a microSD card. It also includes a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, gyroscope, infrared blaster, and dual speakers certified with Hi-Res Audio and DTS.
Verdict At the starting price of Rs 11,499, the Infinix Note 50x is aimed at users who prioritise gaming, battery life, and a future-ready feature set without stretching their budget. With a powerful 4nm chipset, 90 FPS gaming support, AI-powered software, and a versatile camera setup, it covers all the essentials. Minor trade-offs like the HD+ resolution may matter to pixel-peepers, but the overall package remains appealing for its price point.
