In a candid revelation, Oyo founder and Chief Executive Officer Ritesh Agarwal said that he continues to personally clean washrooms in his hotels, as an active role-modeling strategy for his team.
"I still, sometimes, clean washrooms as a role modeling exercise," he said while speaking at the second edition of Mumbai Tech Week on March 1.
Oyo, founded in 2013, has scaled to over 1 million rooms across 80 countries.
"I think as an entrepreneur on day one, you have to leave fear, embarrassment, pride, arrogance, everything outside the room and enter, because these are the biggest enemies of entrepreneurial success," Agarwal added.
The 29-year-old entrepreneur said it's very hard for people to accept this because, unfortunately, upbringing doesn't teach us that.
"You have to leave 'sharam' (embarrassment) and 'ye kaam mera hai ye kaam dusre ka hai' (this is my work and that is yours) … Are you looking to pride seeking or are you looking to be wealth seeking? I am very clear that I want to create a big impact," the billionaire entrepreneur further added.
He was responding to a question on what would be his advice to budding entrepreneurs on fear of failure.
