Apple's iPhone 16 introduces a versatile new feature: the Action Button. First seen on the iPhone 15 Pro models, Apple has deployed the Action Button across all four iPhone 16 models. Replacing the traditional Ring/Silent switch, the Action Button offers a range of customisable options to improve user experience. Here's a guide on how to use and customise this innovative feature.
Using the Action Button
The Action Button can perform multiple functions, depending on how you configure it. By default, it can quickly access the camera, activate the flashlight, or use Translate. To use it, simply press the button once to activate the assigned function. For many functions, the Action button can be used to turn a setting on or off. For example, if the selected action is Silent Mode, you can press and hold the Action button to put iPhone in Silent mode. If you press and hold the Action button again, it turns off Silent mode.
Customising the Action Button
To customise the Action Button, follow these steps:
Tap the "Settings" icon on your iPhone's home screen.
Navigate to Action Button
Select Action Button: You'll see a list of available actions, including Magnifier, Flashlight, Translate and more.
Select the action you want to assign to the button.
Action Button is a rather versatile button and allows you to access some features without going all the way inside the Settings app.
