Real-time data streaming platform Confluent and software major Infosys are working together to develop Generative AI (Gen AI) and Agentic AI solutions powered by real-time data streaming, which helps businesses build autonomous AI-driven systems.

Confluent is a cloud-native data streaming platform and counts Swiggy, Meesho, and MPL among its customers.

“We are the data pipeline. We have the ability to do some inference with Flink and prepare data products,” said Paul Mac Farland, senior vice president, partner innovation & ecosystem, Confluent.

Confluent helps companies move data instantly between their apps and systems. For example, it lets Swiggy track food orders live by streaming real-time updates from the restaurant, delivery partner, and app.

Farland highlighted that the partnership is focused on helping businesses shift from traditional, slow-moving data systems to real-time data flows that are essential for AI to make faster and more accurate decisions.

Unlike older systems that process data in batches, real-time event streaming allows AI models to learn and adapt, making them more responsive to changing business needs.

Live Data

At the core of this partnership is Confluent’s cloud-native data streaming platform, which ensures that AI models receive a constant flow of fresh data. Gen AI systems, which generate human-like text, images, and insights, require up-to-date information to provide accurate and relevant outputs.

Similarly, Agentic AI that can make autonomous decisions needs continuous data streams to function effectively without human intervention.

By integrating Confluent’s real-time data infrastructure, Infosys enables businesses to develop AI-driven solutions that can predict trends, automate operations, and instantly improve customer experiences.

Some of the use cases that Confluent has developed with Infosys' partnership include trade settlement and loan processing using Gen AI in the banking and finance space. Additionally, it has worked on Internet of Things (IoT) telematics and smart metering in the energy and utility sector.

As businesses increasingly rely on AI to drive operations, real-time data is becoming a necessity rather than an option. The Confluent executive highlighted that AI models are only as good as the data they receive, and ensuring continuous, real-time data flow is key to unlocking the full potential of Gen AI and Agentic AI.
