Microsoft and Playground Games’ racing simulator Forza Horizon 6 has a confirmed release date. The upcoming Forza Horizon game will launch on Xbox Series and PC on May 19 via Microsoft Store and Steam. On PS5, though, the open-world car racing game will launch later in 2026. The PS5 release date is kept under wraps for now. Those who preorder the Premium Edition of Forza Horizon 6 can start playing it in Early Access on May 15.
Forza Horizon 6 takes the car racing simulation series to Japan and introduces the biggest map in a Horizon game yet.
According to developer Playground Games, the map of Japan in Forza Horizon 6 is “full of verticality, diverse biomes, seasonality and breathtaking driving experiences – all elevated by Japan's unique car culture.”
The game also features Tokyo City as the biggest urban area yet in a Horizon game. The Tokyo City in the game is "five times larger than Forza Horizon 5’s Guanajuato – with multiple districts, each featuring its own unique identity,” said the developers in a website post.
The racing game features over 550 cars at launch for players to collect and customise them their way. All the cars in the game come with updated Forza Aero, which allows players to paint liveries on the windows and body kits for select cars.
Cars in Forza Horizon 6 will be affected by the game world as they get accustomed to Japan’s roads and race tracks spread across rural and urban locales. The new cosmetic tire wear feature of Forza Horizon 6 will simulate the real-life wear and tear effects of races on the car tires. The developers have added updated steering animations with up to 540 degrees of wheel rotation.
