Microsoft has been trying to poach Google users – be it the Google Search or Google Chrome. Last month, Microsoft started pushing Edge web browser to Windows users and recently, the company has revamped the Bing Search result page with Google Search-ish-like design giving users the feeling as if they are using Google Search engine and not Bing.
Google’s replyAlmost a month later, Google has struck back on this move from Microsoft. A Google executive posted on X “New year new low”. The message accuses Microsoft of tricking users and pulling tricks to confuse them and also of restricting their choice by forcing its apps and services over others.
Microsoft Bing, according to a report by The Verge, searches Google from Bing’s homepage and redirects them to a page that has a Google Search-like doodle along with the search bar at the bottom. The entire search page appears to be from Google and the only thing that indicates that it is after all a Bing search page is the tiny little logo at the bottom.
Bing x Google search: What’s happening hereMicrosoft and Google have a long history of war between their products. Both companies offer similar tools and software and both want users to choose their products instead of others. In this case, Microsoft has been a little notorious and has been found pulling tricks on users to either force them to move or convince them to switch to their products. Both Google Search and Chrome are two such products from Google where Microsoft has been trying to capture a piece of the pie with the Edge and Bing Search.
In pursuit of that, Microsoft recently updated the Bing search with Copilot integration and also improved its search algorithm to offer better results.
