Back in December 2024, Google announced that it would add the QR code-based file-sharing option to the recently updated Quick Share on Android. The company has finally started rolling out the QR-code-based sharing feature to all supported Android devices – both smartphones and tablets. If you are unaware, the feature has already been there in Samsung phones even before Quick Share became the default file-sharing tool for Android.
Quick Share on Android gets QR code support: How it worksQuick Share tool is designed to allow users to share files from one device to another. Provided the Quick Share tool is enabled on divides, the app automatically scans for the devices and lets users choose the device with which they want to share the files. With QR code support, users can simply generate a QR code and allow other users to scan it from their device to share the files.
The option has been added at the top right side of the Quick Share app and users can simply tap on it to generate the QR code for the file they are planning to share.
Not only that, the feature can be used to share files with multiple devices at the same time. Users can simply let multiple devices scan the code and send files to all of them in one go.
Another important part to note about this is that to use this feature, users need not add someone to contact or open Quick Share for “Everyone”. This boosts the security and safety of the device as well.
The feature is rolling out to all Android devices gradually and might take a while to reach to all users.
