. Call Recording finally arrives widely on Pixel phones
Google is now rolling out Call Recording to Pixel phones that don’t support AI-powered Call Notes. Users from the Pixel 6 onward can now find a new “Call Recording” option inside the Phone app settings. The feature works locally, meaning all recordings stay on your device and not on Google’s servers.

A simple button appears during calls
Once enabled, the Call Assist panel during calls will show a “Call Recording” button right next to Audio Emoji. When you tap it, there’s a brief countdown followed by a voice message informing everyone on the call that recording has started. You’ll also see a small red dot near the call timer to show it’s active.

Easy access to all your recordings
After the call ends, your recording appears on the Home tab of the Phone app with a small microphone icon. Opening it lets you use Google’s M3 Expressive audio player for quick playback. Everything is neatly organised so you don’t have to hunt for files.

Useful controls inside Settings
In the Call Recording settings, you can choose how long your recordings should stay on your phone — 7, 14 or 30 days, or you can keep them forever. You can also delete everything at once. There’s an option to automatically record calls from unknown numbers or create a list of people whose calls should always be recorded.
