Google has announced that Android 15 is now available for developers on the Android Open Source Project. This means that mobile OS developers can create custom variants of the Android 15 operating system (OS) for their OEM smartphones. Google has also confirmed that eligible Pixel devices will start receiving the stable Android 15 OS update in the coming weeks.

Additionally, eligible smartphones from other smartphone manufacturers including Samsung, Honor, iQOO, Motorola, OnePlus, Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi, and more are also expected to unveil their custom skins based on Android 15 in the coming months.
Some of the standout features of the Android 15 include an update to the TalkBack screen reader, which now integrates with Google's Gemini AI assistant, providing AI-generated audio descriptions for images. Additionally, Google's Circle to Search feature for Gemini is getting a Shazam-like capability, allowing users to identify songs by tapping on the mic icon.
Google has also released the September 2024 security patch for the Pixel devices (Pixel 6 series onwards) running Android 14 that removes third-party APK to address security vulnerabilities in several updates. This update also improves wireless (Wi-Fi) stability and brings improved thermal performance.
Those who have installed the Android 15 quarterly platform release (QPR) beta 1 for their Pixel devices can opt-out and wait for this stable update instead, which is expected to be released for Pixel smartphones next month.
