Google is expanding Gemini integration across its Workspace apps, and the latest addition is Google Drive on Android and iOS. After launching inside Gmail and Docs, the AI assistant is now making its way to mobile Drive users, offering conversational responses and smarter ways to interact with files and folders.
With Gemini inside Drive, users can do more than just search. The AI can summarise a single file, an entire folder, or even information spread across multiple documents. It can also surface quick facts about a project without requiring you to dig through countless pages, as well as handle questions about specific folders or find files more efficiently. Even images stored in Drive can be summarised or queried.
Accessing Gemini is simple. On mobile, you will see entry points in the top-right corner of the app for folder-related queries, inside the document viewer, and within overflow menus. A “Summarise this file” chip may also appear at the bottom of the screen, streamlining the process. Responses and prompts appear in a bottom sheet, keeping the interface clean and easy to use.
Availability depends on your Workspace plan. The rollout covers Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers, along with Business Standard and Plus, Enterprise Standard and Plus, and Google AI Pro for Education. The feature is gradually becoming available to eligible users over the coming weeks.
In addition to Drive, Google is enhancing Slides and Vids with its Nano Banana image editing model. The new tool is designed to improve image editing quality, letting users make creative changes with simple prompts. For example, you can turn a casual picture into a polished product shot, or swap a plain background with a night sky filled with stars. This capability is rolling out now for AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers as well as Workspace customers.
By bringing Gemini to Drive and upgrading its creative suite, Google is strengthening its AI ecosystem across productivity tools. For mobile users, this integration could be especially valuable, allowing quick insights and edits on the go without manually opening or scanning through files.
