Finally, a dating app for dog lovers is here

And as more people adopt dogs and treat them like family, a pet has become the easiest way to start a conversation and judge compatibility.

That is exactly the idea behind Frolly, a new dating app built entirely for dog lovers. The app launched in late October 2025 in Charlotte, USA. It is meant for people who believe loving dogs is not a quirky preference but a fundamental part of who they are. Founder Cindy Himmel came up with the idea after her daughter ended a relationship because the guy “wasn’t that into dogs,” a reason many Indian pet parents would completely agree with.

Frolly wants dating to feel like how dogs behave with their favourite people, filled with joy, honesty and zero mind games. You do not need to own a dog to join, but you must genuinely like them. The app welcomes both dog owners and admirers and assumes you already understand what dog life includes, from random zoomies to early morning walks.

What makes Frolly interesting is how it integrates dogs into every part of the matching process. Users create a profile for themselves and one for their dog. You can add details like breed, age, temperament, energy levels and even whether your dog is allowed on the couch. The app uses these alongside lifestyle preferences to match people whose pets and routines are likely to fit well together. So before you swipe right, you already know whether your calm indie dog and their hyper golden retriever have any chance of getting along.

There is also a social good angle. Frolly donates 25 percent of its profits to animal welfare groups and is connected to the Artemis Cares Fund, which helps pit bull owners afford vet care. The app launched for free in Charlotte with plans to expand city by city in the United States.

For Indian users, here is the important part. Frolly is not officially available in India yet. It appears on the global app stores, but it has not launched here, and there is currently no active user base in Indian cities.

Even so, Frolly reflects how dating is evolving worldwide. People are moving toward smaller, value based spaces instead of endless swiping. And if an algorithm is going to help you find love, it might as well understand the most important question of all.
