Mumbai-based 3D automotive visualisation startup Eccentric Engine has raised $5 million in a pre-series A round led by Exfinity Venture and Arkam Ventures, as funding activity picks up in India.

The firm plans to use the funds towards product development and international expansion.

"Our three major Investment areas include infusing funds in 3D engine to fuel growth in use cases at the intersection of visualisation & AI. International GTM, aimed at the North American market and finally on partnerships where we work closely with OEMs and their Tier-1 partners to create an ecosystem around 3D," Eccentric co-founder Varun Shah told Moneycontrol.

Shah and Gaurav Rane founded Eccentric in 2012 to solve the fundamental challenge in the automotive industry of lack of interactive and immersive solution for vehicle visualisation.

"Traditional methods like 360-degree image rotations fail to capture the depth and interactivity needed to give car buyers complete trust and confidence to understand the product and influence purchase decisions," Shah said. “High technology costs, latency, and the need for advanced hardware have further constrained the adoption of 3D visualization at scale. To address these pain-points, Eccentric developed One3D, a real-time 3D rendering platform tailored for superior online retail experiences for automotive OEMs and dealerships.”

The firm serves original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) across India, South Africa, Japan, Korea, Australia, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Middle East. It counts Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Toyota, Hyundai and Stellantis among its cutomers.

"The US and Europe market will be our target for 2025. By 2026, we aim to expand across six continents," Shah added.

Eccentric claims that its flagship product One3D has powered more than 200 million user experiences globally and is deployed across 3,500 dealer stores — highest ever by a 3D visualisation platform.

Speaking about the slowdown in the auto industry and whether it impacts Eccentric Shah said that the firm's products have found more relevance now.

"Eccentric’s benefits resonate even better now. This is because the alternative technologies are extremely expensive, have scalability concerns and much higher time-to-market. This makes Eccentric a lucrative option for the industry. Plan is to empower System Integrators over the course of next 24 months to take our technology to other sectors, beyond auto," he added.
