Electronic Arts is inviting Battlefield lovers to sign up for Battlefield Labs, its “most ambitious” community testing program for the next Battlefield game. “The first phase of Battlefield Labs testing will go live in the coming weeks, and sign up to players is available now at battlefield.com/labs”, the video game publisher announced.
For the initial testing rounds, EA will invite a select group of players across servers located in North America and Europe. For further testing, the video game publisher plans to extend the invites to more people in other server locations. All the feedback EA gets from the testing will shape up the next entry in the Battlefield franchise.
At Battlefield Labs, EA says it will “test concepts and experiences we’re excited about with you, our players”. First, the testing will focus on “core combat and destruction” in the upcoming Battlefield experience. Then, it will progress to “balance and feedback for our weapons, vehicles and gadgets”. Next, it will move on to “maps, modes, and squad play” to see how growth in different areas coalesces in gameplay.
EA will test Conquest and Breakthrough at Battlefield Labs and new ideas will be explored to improve upon the class system (Assault, Engineer, Support, and Recon).
The developers say that they “will test (almost) everything but not everything you see will be complete.”
“Our community will receive published updates from the team throughout testing so that even those who are not selected for Battlefield Labs can still come along for the ride. All the feedback provided during Battlefield Labs tests will influence the development of the next Battlefield title and beyond”, the company added.
