  • Dyson unveils PencilWash, a slim wet and dry cleaner at 2.2kg
  • Filter-free design uses only fresh water for hygienic cleaning
  • No price yet; India launch details to be announced later

Dyson has unveiled a new wet and dry cleaner called the PencilWash, and the company is clearly betting on a slimmer, lighter design to make everyday cleaning easier. The device stands out for its ultra-thin 38mm handle and lightweight build, weighing just 2.2kg, which makes it easy to carry around and manoeuvre, especially in tight spaces. Dyson says the PencilWash is designed for modern homes where convenience and hygiene go hand in hand. It can glide under low furniture, clean along edges, and handle both wet spills and dry debris in one go. The company is also highlighting its hygienic approach, with a system that uses only fresh water during cleaning and avoids the need for a traditional filter that can trap dirt and odours.

Price and availability

Dyson has not announced the price of the PencilWash yet. The product has been introduced in select global markets, and the company says details about its India launch will be shared closer to availability.

Specs and features

The Dyson PencilWash focuses heavily on ease of use and hygiene. It comes with a high-density microfibre roller that has 64,000 filaments per square centimetre, allowing it to tackle spills, stains, and dry dust at the same time. The machine uses a combination of hydration, agitation, and extraction technologies, ensuring that dirty water is continuously removed while fresh water is applied during cleaning.

One of the key highlights is its filter-free design, which eliminates the problem of trapped dirt, bad odours, and maintenance hassles typically associated with filters. The device also includes an 8-point hydration system that controls water flow, along with two cleaning modes so users can adjust based on the type of mess or flooring.

In terms of performance, the PencilWash offers up to 30 minutes of runtime and can clean areas of up to 100 square metres on a single fill, thanks to its 300mL clean water tank. It also features a swappable battery for extended usage. The cleaner can lie flat up to 170 degrees, making it easier to clean under furniture as low as 15cm.

Overall, Dyson’s PencilWash aims to combine the simplicity of a broom with the power and precision the brand is known for, while keeping the design compact and easy to use.
