Former US president Donald Trump is threatening to go after Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and “Election Fraudsters” if he gets elected as president of the United States once again. Trump posted about sending the election fraudsters and Zuckerberg to jail “for long periods of time” on his social network ‘Truth Social’, as per a report by Fast Company.

In a post on Truth Social on July 9, Trump wrote: “All I can say is that if I’m elected President, we will pursue Election Fraudsters at levels never seen before, and they will be sent to prison for long periods of time. We already know who you are. DON’T DO IT! ZUCKERBUCKS, be careful!”

Though Donald Trump has been venting his ire about the Facebook co-founder for some time, his relations with Mark Zuckerberg were not always sour. In 2019, the ex-US president had hosted Facebook’s co-founder for dinner at the White House. At that time, Zuckerberg had to go to Washington D.C. to testify for Facebook’s cryptocurrency Libra, the proposed currency that never saw the light of day.

In the past, several comments and events have led Trump’s anger to only increase against Zuckerberg, who is the current chairman, CEO and controlling shareholder of Facebook’s parent company Meta.

For example, when Trump was US president, he believed that Facebook and Google had a bias against conservatives. For that alleged reason, Trump criticised Facebook and Google and even threatened the tech giants with a governmental lawsuit.

In 2020, after the January 6 attack on the US Capitol, Facebook banned Doanld Trump indefinitely, becoming the first major social media platform to do so. X (formerly Twitter) had also blocked Trump’s account and later banned him. Trump’s account was restored after Elon Musk acquired the social media platform. Facebook later shortened Trump’s ban to 2 years.

A year ago, in a Truth Social post, the former US president accused Zuckerberg of cheating on the elections. Trump wanted Zuckerberg to be prosecuted. “He cheated on the Election(s). The whole system is RIGGED. Why isn’t he being prosecuted? The Democrats only know how to cheat. America isn’t going to take it much longer!”, said Trump in the post.
