Anthropic is rolling out a limited-time promotion that doubles usage limits for its AI chatbot Claude when users access the service during off-peak hours. The offer runs from March 13 to March 27 and applies to users across Free, Pro, Max and Team plans.

Under the promotion, users will receive double their normal usage limits within a five-hour window when they access Claude outside weekday peak hours between 8 AM and 2 PM Eastern Time.

Anthropic says the benefit is applied automatically and users do not need to enable any special settings to take advantage of it. The promotion applies across multiple ways of accessing Claude, including the web version, desktop apps and mobile devices. It also covers integrations such as Cowork, Claude Code, Claude for Excel and Claude for PowerPoint.

Anthropic has experimented with similar promotions before. During the final week of December, the company doubled usage limits for certain paid subscribers, including Pro and Max tier users. This latest campaign expands the offer to a much broader group of users, with only Enterprise customers excluded from the promotion.

The company describes the initiative as a gesture of appreciation for users. Anthropic said the promotion is intended as a “small thank you to everyone using Claude.”

The timing also comes as the company navigates broader tensions with the US Department of Defense. After declining to remove certain safeguards from its AI systems, Anthropic was reportedly designated a supply chain risk and lost its contract with the agency.

Following that decision, OpenAI secured a separate agreement with the Department of Defense. The situation has sparked some backlash online, with a number of users saying they would avoid ChatGPT and instead explore alternatives such as Claude.

Anthropic has not directly linked the promotion to the dispute, but the campaign arrives as interest in the chatbot has grown.
