Casio launches G-Shock DW-5000R, the re-created version original G-Shock

Casio Computer Co., Ltd. has launched the DW-5000R, a re-creation of its first G-SHOCK model, the DW-5000C, originally released in 1983. The new watch maintains the original design while integrating modern features for contemporary functionality.

Design details
The DW-5000R faithfully replicates the original DW-5000C, including the band’s length, uneven areas around the band holes, and dimple positioning. The bezel features the original flat design, with “PROTECTION” and “G-SHOCK” lettering. The watch face retains the red, blue, and yellow accents of the original.

Materials and construction
The stainless-steel centre case and screw-lock case back are engraved with “Shock Resistant,” as in the original. The bezel and band are made from bio-based resin to reduce environmental impact. The watch is produced at Yamagata Casio, the site where the original G-SHOCK was developed.

Modern features
The DW-5000R incorporates a high-brightness LED backlight, offering enhanced functionality while preserving its retro aesthetics.
