Losing luggage is the worst thing that can happen to anyone during a holiday. However, Lufthansa Group is making it a bit harder for your luggage to just disappear from the baggage belt. The airline company has announced that Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines and Eurowings, all the airlines operating under the Lufthansa Group, are now integrating the Apple AirTag location feature into their baggage tracing.

How does this work?

If you are flying by any of the above listed airlines, you can now share your device's location data with the airline's baggage tracing service. The process is private and secure, and the sharing happens through the airline’s existing digital channels.

The airline then integrates this location information into its baggage tracking system, which allows it to use digital data from the your AirTag (or other tracker) to help locate lost or delayed baggage more efficiently. Essentially, it's a way to combine Apple's tracking technology with the airline’s own systems for better baggage management.

“Our digital products team, the ‘Digital Hangar’ with its approximately 1,000 experts, offers our customers new digital services, transparent information and support along the entire journey every month,” says Dieter Vranckx, Member of the Executive Board and Chief Commercial Officer of the Lufthansa Group.

“The use of Apple AirTag data is one example of many ways in which we are continuously developing the customer journey of all our Group airlines thanks to innovative digital services,” he added.
