US-based classroom learning company Curriculum Associates plans to expand its Bengaluru Global Capability Centre (GCC) to 15 percent of its worldwide workforce as the company accelerates AI-driven product development and support functions.
The GCC, which currently employs approximately 240 staff, is expected to scale over the next 12 to 24 months as the company expands its engineering, product, operations, and services capabilities outside of India.
“We are looking to get to a representation of 15 percent of our global workforce here in India,” CEO Kelly Sia told Moneycontrol. The US-based edtech company announced the expansion of its India GCC in Bengaluru's Prestige Tech Park. It spans 40,000 sq ft, up from the previous 17,000 sq ft.
Curriculum Associates employs more than 2,700 people globally.
India GCC expansion strategySia added that the team is experimenting with ways to modernise Curriculum Associates’ service model, which is a core differentiator in its US market, where the company works with 14 million (1.4 crore) students and aims to reach 25 million (2.5 crore).
Sia said the India centre is becoming integral to the company’s global innovation strategy, particularly as it ramps up work on AI-enabled learning and assessment tools.
“We want to be intentional with AI, using it responsibly, ethically, and with privacy at the centre. Anything we deliver must extend the educator’s impact and save them time,” she said.
AI-powered learning tools rolloutThe company recently launched an alpha version of its voice-enabled literacy tasks in the US, powered by Soapbox Labs’ speech engine, which scores students’ reading automatically and helps teachers focus on targeted instruction.
Teams in Bengaluru are driving the beta rollout.
The India GCC is also contributing to iReady Studio, an initiative to enhance educator support through tools and point-of-use resources, and to new teacher aids powered by AI.

AI-infused product portfolio expansionThe company is simultaneously expanding its product portfolio through acquisitions.

Curriculum Associates plans to integrate the platform into its upcoming core math programme.

Rajeev Kapoor, Senior Vice President and Country Head of Curriculum Associates India, added that “India is just another office. The culture, the values and the expectations of excellence are the same.”
Long-term AI investment plansSia said AI will remain a major focus area, noting that the company has elevated its CTO to chief AI officer as part of its long-term commitment.
“We want to make sure our employees have all the tools they need to work effectively and deliver on our mission,” Kapoor added.
