A 26-year-old man from Madhya Pradesh says his Apple Watch saved his life after the device detected an unusually high heart rate just minutes before he was to board a train.
As reported by The Indian Express, Sahil, a rice manufacturer from Nainpur, was in Jabalpur for a business meeting and decided to watch a film before catching his evening train. Towards the end of the movie, his Apple Watch Series 9 started vibrating continuously, warning that his heart rate had stayed above 150 beats per minute for over 15 minutes even though he was sitting still.
“At first, I ignored it,” Sahil said. “But then I realised I wasn’t moving or stressed, so it didn’t make sense. That’s when I got worried.”
Instead of boarding his 7.30 pm train, he went to a nearby clinic and also ran an ECG on his Apple Watch, which appeared normal. However, the doctor advised a detailed check-up. Hospital tests revealed Sahil’s blood pressure was 180/120 — dangerously high and potentially fatal if left untreated.
“The doctor told me that if I had taken that train, I might have suffered a stroke or brain haemorrhage,” he recalled. Sahil was admitted immediately and kept under observation until his condition stabilised.
He now credits his Apple Watch for alerting him in time. “It actually saved my life,” he said. “I’ve stopped eating junk food, started sleeping on time, and take my health seriously now.”
Sahil, who recently got married, plans to buy Apple Watches for his family members, given their medical history of heart issues.
For Sahil, that single vibration on his wrist turned out to be more than a notification — it was a lifesaving warning.
