Apple tipped to introduce a new lighter shade with the upcoming iPhone 17 Air

The iPhone 17 series is likely to include a new Air model, which aims to become the world's thinnest smartphone. A new leak now suggests that the company is using a shade of blue for the smartphone that it has never used before.

The iPhone 17 series launch is expected sometime in September. While we have seen a slew of leaks over the past few months for all the smartphones in the lineup, one of the latest iPhone 17 Air leaks suggests that the supposedly impending super-thin iPhone will come in a choice of four new colours. However, one purported light blue colourway is particularly grabbing attention, since it is expected to come with a very light blue shade, which will be subtle enough that it might look almost white under normal lighting.

iPhone 17 Air may come with the lightest Apple shade

According to the reliable Weibo tipster, Fixed Focus Digital, the upcoming iPhone 17 Air will introduce a new shade of blue that will be much paler than it appears in its current render. Moreover, under regular lighting, it could just look plain white, similar to what Samsung did with the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s Silverblue shade.

However, previous reports have suggested that the base iPhone 17 will not follow this colour scheme, as it could be introduced with a new color that isn’t just a different shade of black or white, and instead will come with the regular purple shade as an option. This colour shade might also have a lighter version, similar to the Desert Titanium of the iPhone 16 Pro series.

Rumours also suggest that the base iPhone 17 models, including the iPhone 17 Air, could finally get a 120Hz display, just like the Pro models. However, they may not be the same as the ProMotion tech that comes with the Pro lineup, and instead could offer up to a 120Hz refresh rate, without any variable refresh rate support to conserve the battery.
