Apple releases iOS 18.6, macOS Sequoia 15.6 with important bug fixes and security updates

Apple has started rolling out the latest software update for its iPhones, iPads, and MacBooks. The iOS 18.6, iPadOS 18.6, and macOS Sequoia 15.6 updates address dozens of vulnerabilities, according to Apple's security support documents. Luckily, none of these vulnerabilities are known to have been actively exploited, but users of these devices are recommended to install the new updates right away.

According to a report by Bleeping Computers, Apple has released security updates to address a high-severity vulnerability that has been exploited in zero-day attacks targeting Google Chrome users. This is being tracked as CVE-2025-6558; the security bug is due to the incorrect validation of untrusted input in the ANGLE (Almost Native Graphics Layer Engine) open-source graphics abstraction layer.

The flaw could allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code using HTML pages created for that purpose, escaping Chrome's sandboxing. Google also addressed the issue in its latest security update for Chrome on desktop and mobile. Although initially in Safari, Apple said that the issue could cause unexpected crashes. However, later it was found out that Apple’s native browser wasn’t prone to these attacks.

Moreover, all of these latest updates for Apple devices include 24 other security fixes. As for Mac and MacBook users, macOS Sequoia 15.6 reportedly patches over 80 vulnerabilities. Some of those issues could lead to crashes, leak sensitive data, and more. The update also includes fixes for the Dock, Find My, Notes, Spotlight, and other apps and features.
