At the recently concluded WWDC 2024 event, Apple announced the iOS 18 update and also confirmed some new Apple Intelligence (AI) features. However, over the past couple of months, the Cupertino-based tech giant has been facing several delays in launching these AI features in time. This caused widespread concern among Apple fans, leading to speculation that the next iPhone series could be delayed entirely.
However, in his Power On newsletter, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has assured that despite Apple Intelligence features facing a delay, the iPhone 16 series launch will not be postponed. The next smartphone series from Apple is expected to launch in September this year, alongside the next-generation Apple smartwatches.
The Bloomberg report further adds that the AI features will come to compatible iPhones in October after Apple confirmed that the iPhone 15 Pro series smartphones will be eligible for Apple Intelligence. There is even a possibility that some Apple Intelligence features will be delayed till 2025.
This may include advanced Apple Intelligence integration in Siri, with voice or text-based responses, similar to how ChatGPT currently works. Gurman also previously stated that this new updated Siri is expected to be rolled out to developers in January 2025 with the iOS 18.4 beta update, and a stable public release later this year.
If we look at the trend of the last few years, the Apple iPhone 16 series should launch in the first or second week of September. Apple smartphone users can also expect the iOS 18 update to be made available for their devices at the same time.
