Apple recently introduced the highly anticipated iOS 26 update at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2025 keynote. The Cupertino-based tech giant also unveiled several new features and updates for CarPlay, as part of the iOS 26 rollout. With these visual enhancements that span the entire vehicle dashboard, the standard CarPlay experience is also getting a meaningful facelift with new functionality, improved usability, and a sleek design update, based on the Liquid Glass design from the company.
iOS 26 to add Smart Display Zoom on CarPlay dashboard: Key details
As spotted by MacRumors, with the upcoming iOS 26 update, a Smart Display Zoom feature, which would be configurable within Settings in CarPlay, will enable the CarPlay app to be automatically resized to the display scale of the vehicle. This will make CarPlay easier to use if you have a lot of apps on the home screen.
The feature is currently available in a developer beta of the iOS 26 update for now, but will appear in a public beta next month and in the final release, which is expected to be available in September this year. Moreover, the new Liquid Glass design will also extend to the CarPlay interface, which has more shimmery app icons and translucent user interface elements.
Further, the latest iOS 26 beta update also adds a more compact view for incoming calls, new Tapbacks emojis in the Messages app, Live Activities, multi-touch mapping support, the ability to stream videos on the CarPlay screen when the vehicle is parked, and other small visual enhancements.
