Last month, Amazon announced that Rufus, its AI chatbot will be made available in beta in India. Amazon had said that the rollout will be gradual. Now, Rufus AI is showing in the updated version of the Amazon app in India.
Moneycontrol checked if Rufus AI is available and can confirm that it has been activated in the iOS version of the app. We checked on an Android phone — Galaxy Z Fold6 — and even updated the app to the latest version but the new Rufus interface isn’t available.
On the iOS version of app, we asked Rufus to recommend true wireless earbuds under Rs 10,000 and it promptly gave five options with “expert” comments about what to keep in mind before buying one.

Rufus makes it is for customers to find and discover the best products to meet their needs. Rufus generates answers using relevant information from across Amazon.in and the web to help customers make better, more informed shopping decisions.
With Rufus, customers are now able to shop alongside a generative AI-powered expert that can help with the product catalogue. It also bring can bring information from across the web to help users make more informed purchase decisions.
Amazon had said that it will be a gradual roll out and it is still in beta version. So, if you don’t see Rufus AI — it will be at the right hand corner of the bottom bar — don’t fret as it will be made available sooner or later.
