If you’re looking for a job this festive season, Amazon India is opening its doors to thousands of workers. The e-commerce giant has announced that it will hire over 1.5 lakh people across the country to meet the festive shopping rush. From metros like Delhi and Mumbai to smaller towns such as Ranchi and Coimbatore, opportunities are available in more than 400 cities. Here are the five key things you should know before applying.
1. Massive hiring across 400+ cities
Amazon is adding over 1,50,000 seasonal workers this year, one of its biggest festive drives yet. These jobs are not just limited to big cities like Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Delhi but also extend to smaller towns such as Jodhpur, Jalgaon, and Coimbatore. This means job seekers across India have a fair chance to find work closer to home without needing to relocate, making it accessible to a wider pool of applicants.
2. Roles focus on fulfilment, delivery, and sorting
Most of the openings are at fulfilment centres, sortation hubs, and delivery stations. Associates will handle customer orders through tasks like receiving, packing, sorting, and last-mile delivery. While these are seasonal positions, Amazon points out that many workers continue beyond the festive season or return year after year. For those seeking a stepping stone into long-term roles in logistics or e-commerce, this can be a practical entry point.
3. Inclusivity at the heart of hiring
Amazon says its festive hiring push is designed to be inclusive. Thousands of women associates have already been recruited this year, and over 2,000 persons with disabilities (PWDs) are part of its workforce. The company highlights its focus on providing a safe, respectful environment for everyone, which could make these roles especially appealing for those who value a supportive workplace culture.
4. Benefits and facilities for workers
These jobs come with more than just a paycheck. Associates can expect clean drinking water, hygienic washrooms, and rest areas at warehouses. Larger centres also feature air-conditioned cafeterias. Medical help is available through AMCARE first-aid centres with trained nurses, and workers can be referred to hospitals if required. On top of that, Amazon monitors weather conditions and adjusts work to ensure safety during extreme heat or rain.
5. Financial flexibility and social security
Amazon’s Early Access to Pay program allows workers to withdraw up to 80% of their earned wages before payday, offering crucial flexibility in emergencies. Associates also get two weekly offs, annual and sick leave, and social security benefits like provident fund, gratuity, ESIC, and insurance coverage. For many, these roles provide not just seasonal income but also a measure of financial stability and protection during uncertain times.
