Vinesh Phogat is an active politician now but is there more in store for India's star grappler? Well we may have to wait to see if she returns to the wrestling mat but the Olympian is certainly dropping hints of a possible return. Vinesh, an MLA from Haryana's Julana constituency, shared a post on Instagram on Monday suggesting the same.
Vinesh, who can be seen in her wrestling attire in the post, shared the caption in Hindi, which roughly translates to "I agree that you are tired today, I agree that you are the injured bird today, But you still have courage, You are still alive for the goal."
Rio Olympic bronze medallist Sakshi Malik liked the post, while the comments read: "Go for Gold Champ ..... #LA2028 is waiting for you.. 1st MLA to claim Gold ...."
Other comments read: "Best of luck for next Olympics", "Come back champ".
Vinesh had announced retirement from the sport after losing out on an assured silver medal due to disqualification at the Paris Olympics. She was disqualified on the morning of her gold medal bout after measuring 100 grams from the eligibility criteria of 50 kilograms.
Vinesh also knocked the doors of Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) but after a lengthy hearing, which went for almost two weeks the verdict was ruled against the grappler. The sole arbitrator, who heard Vinesh's appeal at the CAS' Ad Hoc division in Paris, felt "the consequences of the failed second weigh-in draconian" but her disqualification was well within the existing rules set by the United World Wrestling (UWW).
Following her return from Paris, she joined the Congress party and won the Haryana state assembly elections from Julana constituency.
