Joe Root's maiden Test century in Brisbane on Day 1 of the second Ashes Test must have come as a huge sigh of relief for Australia legend Matthew Hayden. Almost two months before the Ashes got underway Down Under, Hayden speaking on All Over Bar The Cricket podcast had issued a wild dare. The former Australian opener had then said that he "will walk nude at the MCG" if Root doesn't score a ton in the five-match series.
The first Test, which Australia won by eight wickets, saw Root get dismissed for 0 and 8, once again putting the pressure on Root, who is currently the second-highest run-scorer in the format after India legend Sachin Tendulkar.
However, on Thursday Root scripted a new chapter in his storied cricket journey as he finally ended years of agony to slam his maiden Test hundred on Australian soil. It took him 30 innings to get to the milestone and even before fans could get Root's reaction to the momentous occasion, Hayden was already buzzing on social media.

"Congratulations, mate. No one had more skin in the game than me, literally. I was backing you for a hundred in a good way," he said.
Grace, daughter of Matthew, who had reacted to her father's dare then was quick to react to the development. Taking to Instagram, she shared multiple stories on the same, out of which one was a small clip of her thanking the almighty. She even thanked Root with a cheeky note that read: "Root thank you you've saved all our eyes".
By the time Stumps were called Root was still unbeaten in the middle at 135(202) with Jofra Archer (32 off 26) as England had reached 325/9.
