In an electrifying tribute to the Paris Olympics 2024, Google has unveiled a vibrant and dynamic Google Doodle featuring its iconic Olympic birds as climbers scaling new heights. These feathered athletes are depicted gripping the façade of a Parisian building adorned with iconic Gothic gargoyles, showcasing a thrilling display of their climbing prowess.
The Doodle is a visual celebration of the athletes' incredible strength, agility, and determination as they compete for Olympic glory. Sport climbing, which made its Olympic debut in Tokyo 2020, has quickly gained a global following. This year, a total of 68 climbers from around the world are vying for medals in Paris, competing in two distinct formats: speed and boulder-and-lead combined.
Each nation is allowed a maximum of four climbers, with two athletes representing each gender in every format. The excitement of sport climbing continues at the Paris Olympics, with competitions running from August 5 to 10. Athletes are showcasing their skills at the newly constructed Le Bourget Sport Climbing Venue in Saint-Denis.
This year marks a significant expansion for the sport, with the number of medal events doubling from Tokyo 2020. The separation of boulder-and-lead and speed climbing events has created more opportunities for climbers to shine on the Olympic stage. The Doodle not only highlights the athleticism and spirit of the competitors but also brings the exhilarating world of Olympic climbing to the forefront of global attention.
