Virat Kohli is ready to take on Australia as India begin a three-match ODI series starting from October 19. Kohli stares at a number of records, which he will look to accomplish during the Australia trip.

All-time ODI run scorers

Virat Kohli currently has 14,181 ODI runs. With 14,234 runs, he is just behind Kumar Sangakkara in the list. Kohli would become the second-highest run scorer in ODI cricket history if he scores 54 runs in the three games, trailing only Sachin Tendulkar, who leads with 18,426 runs.

Most hundreds in a single format

With 51 tons to his credit, Kohli already holds the record for the most ODI hundreds. He now shares the record for most hundreds in a single format, with Sachin Tendulkar's 51 Test hundreds. Kohli would hold the record for the most hundreds in a single format if he scores one more ODI century over the course of the three games.

Both ODIs and T20Is are taken into consideration while discussing limited-overs cricket. If such is the case, Kohli has amassed 18,369 runs in both formats. In cricket, Sachin Tendulkar has amassed 18,436 runs in limited overs. Thus, Kohli would become the greatest run scorer in limited-overs cricket history if he scores 67 runs.

Quickest to 28,000 international runs

Virat Kohli's international runs, when totaled across all formats, come to 27,599 runs. To attain 28,000 international runs, he needs to score an additional 401 runs. He can become the fastest to reach the milestone with 26 more innings to go. The record is now held by Sachin Tendulkar, who scored 28,000 international runs in 644 innings.

6000 ODI runs in successful chases

Kohli has turned chasing targets into an art form, and boasts an average close to 90. And Kohli is only a few runs away from becoming the first batter to reach 6000 runs in a successful chase in ODI cricket history.

Kohli has amassed 29 international hundreds away from home across formats. He will reach the milestone of 30 overseas centuries with one ton and would be the first batter to accomplish this.

On October 19, 23, and 25, India will play three ODIs as part of their tour to Australia. Perth's Optus Stadium, Adelaide and Sydney Cricket Ground will host the games. If Kohli hits form, the majority of these records would be eclipsed before the end of the series.
