It won't be difficult to admit that Rishabh Pant is a character when it comes to constant chirps from behind the stumps. When India are playing, especially Tests, the 26-year-old is a delight to watch and listen, and something similar was witnessed on Day 1 of the second Test against Bangladesh in Kanpur. Despite the day being a rain-curtailed one, and only 35 overs were bowled, Pant produced another gem, which was caught on the stump mic.
The video of the same has gone viral on social media, also leaving India's legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar in splits. The incident took place in the second session of the opening day, when Ravichandran Ashwin was bowling the 33rd over. Mominul Haque was on strike and in order to tackle the carrom-ball specialist, the Bangladesh batter was seen often resorting to sweep shots.
Taking a sly dig at Mominul's short stature, Pant came out with an epic banter, which is proving to be a hit on the internet. "Idhar se LBW le sakte hai helmet se. Helmet se ek LBW le sakte hai bhai. (We can get him out LBW even on the helmet)," Pant can be heard saying in the video.
Gavaskar and Dinesh Karthik were on commentary then, and it left both amused. Gavaskar burst out in a laugh and said: "What he's (Rishabh Pant) trying to say in Hindi is that you can get a LBW off the helmet as well. He's alluding to Mominul's height, saying even if it hits the helmet you can appeal for a LBW. Only Rishabh Pant can think like that."

Meanwhile, Mominul went on to finish unbeaten on 40(81) with Mushfiqur Rahim (6*) at the other end after Stumps were called early on Day 1 due to incessant rain. Together the duo took Bangladesh to 107/3. The play on Day 2 is yet to be started due to poor weather conditions, and it is expected to remain the same throughout the day as per forecast.
