Shami will be absent from the 2024 IPL as well. The right arm quick was an integral part in Gujarat Titans' title win in 2022 and runnersup finish in the 2023 season.

Senior India peacer Mohammed Shami underwent a successful heel surgery on February 26 to mend his Achilles tendon. He took to microblogging site X after his successful operation in the UK to share updates, expressing the need for time to regain full fitness and make a comeback to cricket.

"Just had a successful heel operation on my achilles tendon! Recovery is going to take some time, but looking forward to getting back on my feet," wrote the pacer on February 26 following his surgery.
