Rohit's viral stump banter

Before their match against Kolkata Knight Riders, an old video of Rohit Sharma is circulating on social media. It captures a comment picked up by the stump mic during a test match against England at Eden Gardens.

In the video, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma amusingly instructs his fielders to stay alert, "jo bhi garden mein ghoomega…"

Rohit Sharma jokingly advises Tilak Varma, "Aye hero, kya kar raha hai bhai? Chappal mein ghoom raha hai, kya garden mein aya hai kya?"

Varma replies, "Hai na Bhaiya, Eden Gardens!"

Surprised, Rohit responds, "Kya? Eden Gardens?" and turns away with a smile on his face.

Incidentally, Rohit has a special bond with Eden Gardens. He made his highly anticipated Test debut at the historic venue in 2013, scoring 177 against West Indies.

Additionally, Rohit achieved his highest ODI score of 264 at the same ground on November 13, 2014, against Sri Lanka.

In IPL match 60, Kolkata Knight Riders face Mumbai Indians at Kolkata's Eden Gardens on May 11. KKR seeks a fourth consecutive win to reach nine victories in IPL 2024.

A win would elevate Shreyas Iyer's team to 18 points, securing their playoff spot. Mumbai Indians, already out of contention, may use the match to try new strategies for IPL 2025.
