Punjab Kings advanced to the final of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 after an unbroken 87-run knock off 41 balls from Shreyas Iyer against the Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2. However, the captain was not happy after the match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The PBKS skipper was spotted handing Shashank Singh a mouthful after his run-out in the pivotal match.
The entire Punjab Kings team rushed to the center to embrace the captain and celebrate their second-ever IPL final appearance after Iyer hit the game-winning six off Ashwani Kumar's bowling.

However, as Shashank Singh had failed to reach the non-striker's end in time and had been caught short of the crease by a bullet thrown by Hardik Pandya, Iyer blasted a mouthful of expletives when the duo came close while exchanging the pleasantries - the video of which has gone viral on social media. In the video Shashank can be seen walking away without saying anything to Iyer.
People praised calmness of #ShreyasIyer after superb knock in #PBKSvsMI match last night but his abusing #ShashankSingh, undone his efforts and let a sour taste. Shashank was dismissed for two runs on the fourth ball of the seventeenth over and after Hardik Pandya stopped the ball at mid-on off Trent Boult's bowling and executed a direct-hit at the non-striker's end. It appeared to the naked eye that Shashank Singh had made his crease with ease. Replays, however, showed Shashank falling short of his crease, which was dubbed as lazy running between the wickets by the on-air commentators.
This was a crucial moment in the game for the Punjab Kings and it was no surprise that Shreyas Iyer was appalled by what transpired in the middle.
