A latest update has emerged in regards to the resumption of the suspended Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. As reported by the Indian Express, the BCCI is planning to resume the league by Friday and extend the ongoing edition till May 30. With 12 league matches yet to be played, the BCCI will require at least two weeks to wrap it up before moving to the playoffs and the final, which will need another six days. And in order to wrap things as per plans, more double headers can be expected. The report also mentioned that the revised schedule is expected to be released by Sunday night despite some franchises expressing concern over the availability of overseas players, who have returned to their home countries.

Meanwhile, BCCI is also pondering to keep the remainder of the tournament limited to three venues in Southern India - Chennai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. “As the IPL was suspended for a week, there is a possibility of the IPL final now being played on May 30 instead of May 25 with limited venues. The schedule will be sent to all IPL teams by tonight,” a source in the BCCI was quoted as saying by the national daily.

The report further mentioned that all franchises, except Punjab Kings, have been asked to report to their respective venues by Tuesday. It also stated that BCCI has informed the franchises to convey their the travel plans to the overseas players. A majority of the overseas players and support staff had already left for their home on Friday after BCCI officially suspended the IPL in the wake of rising cross border tension between India and Pakistan. The franchises are now making arrangements to fly them back.

Meanwhile, it also remains to be seen if the match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals, which was abandoned midway will resume from where it stopped, or is played from the start again, or the two teams will share the spoils.
