GT vs SRH Highlights, IPL 2025: Gujarat Titans (GT) defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 38 runs in their Indian Premier League (IPL) clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday to rise to the second spot on the points table. Chasing a stiff 225-run target, SRH managed 186/6 in their 20 overs.

Here are the five points that were instrumental in Gujarat Titans registering their fifth successive win against Sunrisers Hyderabad in six completed games...

Sai Sudharsan gets the Orange Cap:

Sai Sudharsan gave GT a flying start along with his captain Shubman Gill. The pair brought up the 50-run opening stand in the fourth over. Sudharsan not only became the first batsman in this IPL edition to breach the 500-run mark, but also became the fastest to reach 1500 runs (in 35 innings) in the history of the tournament.

Not just that, Sudharsan became the second fastest batsman to reach 2000 runs in T20s, taking 54 innings to the mark, after Aussie Shaun Marsh who took 53 innings.

Sudharsan smashed Mohammed Shami for five boundaries in one over and slammed four boundaries in the fifth over bowled by Harshal Patel. He fell just 2 runs short of a well-deserved fifty, departing for 48(23) – a whirlwind knock that was studded with 9 fours.

Gill’s controversial run out:

GT captain Shubman Gill's innings was abruptly cut short sparking controversy. Gill slammed 76 off just 38 balls before perishing to a controversial run-out decision.

Jos Buttler tried to sneak a quick single after pushing Zeeshan Ansari's flat delivery onto the leg side. A quick throw to the keeper's end was fired by an alert Harshal Patel, who glided in from short fine leg. With Gill racing in, Heinrich Klaasen gathered the ball and redirected it onto the stumps.

A long review ensued as the ball smashed into the stumps after taking a touch off Klaasen's glove. In an attempt to ascertain whether the glove or the ball broke the bails, TV umpire Michael Gough examined the dismissal frame by frame. With Klaasen's gloves perilously near the stumps and a clear divergence in the ball's trajectory, the decision was anything but simple. Ultimately, the fielding side was given the benefit of doubt. "OUT" flashed on the big screen as GT lost their captain.

With 10 boundaries and two sixes, Gill's excellent strokeplay was on full display as he smashed his 25th IPL fifty off 25 balls. This was Gill’s third fifty in a row and fifth this season.

Buttler’s blitzkrieg:

Former England white-ball captain Jos Buttler continued his fine run with the bat, smashing a fifty off 31 balls to take the GT score over the 200-run mark. Buttler hit 4 sixes and 3 fours in his 37-ball 64 before he was dismissed by Pat Cummins. Buttler’s fifty was his fifth of the season and his knock continued the imperious form of the GT top order.

Abhishek Sharma’s fireworks:

SRH opener Abhishek Sharma threatened to take the game away from GT. Abhishek got to his fifty with a six off Gerald Coetzee. Abhishek top scored for SRH with a 41-ball 74 smashing, 6 sixes and 4 fours before he was dismissed by Ishat Sharma.

Prasidh Krishna shines with the ball:

When bowling against a team that is known for smashing bowlers all over the park and knowing they will go all guns blazing in pursuit of a 225-run target, Prasidh Krishna came up with excellent figures with the ball.

Prasidh gave GT the first breakthrough when Rashid Khan took an excellent catch to dismiss opener Travis Head (20) and returned in the attack to get rid of Heinrich Klaasen (23) in his last over, denting SRH's run chase to finish with figures of 4-0-19-2.
