In a significant development for Indian athletes on a mission for the 2024 Paris Olympics, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a substantial financial support of INR 8.5 crore to the Indian Olympic Association (IOA).
This funding is intended to bolster the Indian contingent's efforts at the upcoming Paris Olympic Games, which are scheduled to commence on July 26. Jay Shah, the Secretary of the BCCI, used his social media platform to officially declare this decision. In his statement, he expressed pride in the BCCI's support for India's outstanding athletes participating in this prestigious quadrennial event. The funds provided by the BCCI will assist the IOA in their preparations and logistics for the Paris Olympics.
"I am proud to announce that the BCCI will be supporting our incredible athletes representing #India at the 2024 Paris Olympics. We are providing INR 8.5 Crores to the IOA for the campaign. To our entire contingent, we wish you the very best. Make India proud! Jai Hind!" He posted on X.
India is poised to send a team of 117 athletes competing across various disciplines to the Paris Games. In addition, a support staff comprising 140 members will accompany the athletes, making the total contingent size 257 members.
The BCCI's financial support will undoubtedly strengthen the resolve of Indian athletes and their support staff as they aim for excellence on the global stage.
Jay Shah also conveyed the BCCI's heartfelt wishes to the entire Indian contingent, encouraging them to bring glory to the nation.
