After rescheduling, India’s space agency, ISRO, is gearing up for one of its most ambitious commercial launches yet. The BlueBird‑6 satellite is set to soar into orbit, capturing global attention. This launch will take place on 24th December 2025.

This mission represents a milestone in space-based broadband technology, promising to connect remote regions. It also highlights India’s growing capability in commercial space launches.

What Is ISRO’s BlueBird‑6?

BlueBird‑6, also known as the AST SpaceMobile satellite, is a low-Earth orbit communications satellite. It aims to provide direct cellular broadband to ordinary smartphones worldwide.

No additional antennas or special devices will be required by users. The satellite is the heaviest commercial payload ever carried by ISRO. It rides atop the LVM3‑M6 rocket, India’s most powerful launcher.

When and Where Is the Launch Happening?

It was scheduled for the 15th of December, due to some issues, it has been rescheduled for 24 December 2025. The lift-off is expected early morning Indian Standard Time, around 08:24 AM. The launch pad is Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. The event marks the 6th operational flight of the LVM3 launcher.

How to Watch the Launch?

ISRO will provide a live stream on its official website and YouTube channel. Viewers can also follow updates via social media channels for real-time coverage. The public will witness the rocket lift-off, satellite separation and orbital insertion.

Why was the Launch Delayed?

The mission faced technical and scheduling delays due to satellite testing and integration. Ensuring satellite readiness for global broadband service took months of rigorous checks. ISRO also coordinated with international stakeholders and orbital slot authorities. These steps were necessary to guarantee mission success and long-term satellite operation.
